Welcome to our guide on how to easily reach Residenze al Castello, located in the heart of Cagliari’s historic upper district. Castello is charming but characterized by narrow streets, steep climbs, and limited-traffic zones (ZTL). This guide will help you navigate every situation smoothly.
Useful Coordinates

* ZTL: Active at certain times. Temporary permits can be provided if requested in advance.
1. Arriving from Cagliari-Elmas Airport (CAG)
Option 1: Train (recommended)
* Follow signs inside the airport to the “Elmas Aeroporto” railway station (5 minutes on foot).
* Trains to Cagliari Centrale depart every 20–30 minutes.
* Duration: 5–7 minutes.
* Cost: about €1.30.
From Cagliari Centrale → Residenze al Castello:

Option 2: Taxi
* Taxis are available just outside the terminal.
* Duration: 15–20 minutes.
* Average cost: €20–25.
* Tell the driver the destination is Via Lamarmora, Castello.
Note: Some taxis may stop at the entrance of the district because the streets are very narrow.
Option 3: Rental Car

2. Arriving from the Train Station (Cagliari Centrale)
On foot
Duration: 15–20 minutes. The route is uphill.
Recommended route:
1. Exit the station and walk toward Via Roma.
2. Reach Piazza Yenne using the stairs or the public lift.
3. Walk uphill along Via Manno, then Via Cima.
4. Enter the Castello district through Porta dei Leoni.
5. Continue along Via Lamarmora until you reach number 118.
By bus
* Recommended lines: 10 or 1 to Piazza Yenne.
* Then walk uphill to Castello (10–12 minutes).
By taxi
* Duration: 5–7 minutes.
* Cost: €10–12.
3. Arriving from the Port of Cagliari
On foot
Duration: 20–25 minutes.
Route:
1. Exit the port and walk to Via Roma.
2. Continue to Piazza Yenne.
3. Walk uphill toward Castello following the directions above.
4. Continue along Via Lamarmora until number 118.
By bus
* Available lines: M, 1, 10 to Piazza Yenne.
* Then walk uphill.
By taxi
* Duration: 5–8 minutes.
* Cost: €10–15.

4. Arriving by Car
The Castello district has:
* Very narrow streets
* Sharp turns
* ZTL (limited traffic zone)
* Limited parking
For these reasons, we do not recommend driving inside Castello unless absolutely necessary.
Option 1: Parking outside Castello (recommended)
Suggested parking areas:
* Parcheggio Regio (Via Cammino Nuovo, 4–5 minutes on foot)
* Viale Regina Elena Parking (near Bastione Saint Remy, 7–8 minutes on foot)
* Municipal Multi-storey Parking (Via Manzoni, about 10 minutes on foot)
From these parking areas, the district is easily accessible using stairs or lifts.
Option 2: Direct access to Via Lamarmora
Possible but not easy.
Route:
* Enter from Porta Cristina / Piazza Indipendenza.
* Continue along Via Martini, then Via Lamarmora.
Warnings:
* Very tight spaces
* Pedestrian traffic
* Active ZTL
* Almost no parking near the property
If needed, we can provide a temporary ZTL permit, but you must send us your license plate number in advance.
5. Final Reference Point
On Via Lamarmora, look for:
* The historic buildings typical of the Castello district
* The number 118, clearly visible
* The discreet entrance to Residenze al Castello
